“WHEREVER LIFE LEADS YOU”

You may have heard us say that we’re here “wherever life leads you.” But, what exactly does that mean? Here is a brief overview of our areas of practice. If you have any questions, or if you think you may need help with your own situation, give us a call at 301-251-1600!

Family Law

Divorce, separation, custody, child support, alimony, domestic violence—these are some of the most delicate and emotionally intense areas of law.  We are here to help you and will fight to protect you.

Wills, Estates, and Trusts

Estate Planning:  You owe it to yourself and your family members to do proper estate planning, whether it’s a will, a living trust, a power of attorney, a medical power of attorney, or some other planning mechanism that meets your needs.

Probate:  Many questions arise when a loved one passes away. The probate process can be intimidating.  We will help you through the process.

Criminal Law

If you are arrested, or if the police want to question you, the most important advice is to contact us and don’t discuss anything with anybody until you speak with us. Becoming involved in the criminal justice system can be a frightening experience. We will stand with you and protect your rights.

Litigation

We are litigators, but we also believe in settling things amicably if possible.  Negotiation or mediation is usually preferable to a lawsuit. But, sometimes no matter how good your intentions are, the other side won’t be reasonable, and you find yourself facing a trial. That’s when it’s good to have us on your side. We have extensive experience prosecuting and defending all types of controversies, and we appear in Court on a regular basis.

Personal Injury

If you have been injured by someone else’s negligence, the physical, emotional, and financial costs can be great. Our investigation, negotiation, and litigation experience helps you get the maximum benefits available while giving you the time and space to recover.

Landlord/Tenant

Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, we can help you with Failure to Pay Rent, Tenant Holding Over, Breach of Lease, Wrongful Detainer, and Warrant of Restitution matters.  We know the process and appreciate what’s at risk.

Collections

We represent creditors in the collection of delinquent accounts. We also represent individual and corporate debtors in claims brought against them. Our experience representing both creditors and debtors gives us insight that can maximize your outcome.

Contracts

Our office believes in writing documents that are easy to read and understand and, very importantly, that protect your interests.  We can also help you understand any papers you’ve been asked to sign.  Getting an attorney’s review of a legal document before you sign can ensure you are protected.

Business Law

Getting your new business off the ground or keeping your existing one on track is important to your success. We can help you grow and prosper while avoiding pitfalls. From your Articles of Incorporation to preparation, negotiation, and review of leases and other contracts, to being at your side during litigation or during the sale of your business, we can help you achieve your business goals safely and with confidence.

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

With decades of experience, our attorneys are available to speak about legal issues at your group’s next meeting. Whether it’s your church, temple, volunteer organization, or neighborhood group, we are here to help!

BELIEVE IT, OR DON’T!

If the world isn’t crazy enough for you already, here are just a few crazy things that we’ve read about:

  • A man in Massachusetts got stuck in a chimney while fleeing from the police.
  • The winner of this year’s Spanish World Scrabble Championship is a New Zealander … who doesn’t speak Spanish. The man who came in second called it “an incredible humiliation.”
  • A Portuguese airplane was grounded for four days after 132 hamsters broke loose in the cabin.
  • Insurance companies in Los Angeles paid over $140,000 in claims for damage to luxury vehicles caused by a brown bear, which police later said was “clearly a human in a bear suit.”
