Highlights of some of the new Maryland laws went into effect last month:
If you’re driving while using a hand-held cell phone, you can now be stopped by the police just for that. Before, they had to stop you for something else, and then could ticket you for the cell phone violation.
All of your passengers now have to wear seat belts, including the back seat ones.
Cyber bullying is now a crime.
There is no more death penalty in Maryland.
Medical marijuana will be allowed to be legally distributed in the state.
Public pools must now have defibrillators and their staff trained to use them.
